We’ve left things unusally late this year to fill out our range of Valentine’s gifts. I’ve been sneak peeking at the opposition but as always at Pixie, we’re looking for inspiration something out of the ordinary - beyond flowers, chocolates and balloons.

Choosing a baby gift can be a daunting exercise, and it must be especially so when choosing for a celebrity couple. However friends of Dannii Minogue found something just right. The TV and music star happily twittered the news of receiving her first baby gift. Friends from Manchester sent her a grey and white babygro (or jumpsuit), with the phrase “Sleep is for the Weak” printed on the front.
According to the Daily Mail, Dannii posted a photograph of the gift with the caption “First baby present from friends in Manchester. The message is for Mummy & Daddy to be!”
Dannii and her partner, former rugby league player, Kris Smith, have become fans of the micro-blogging site, choosing to announce their pregnancy via Dannii’s Twitter page. Dannii posted the message “Woo hoo I’m going to be a mummy!” Famous sister Kylie, tweeted: “Congratulations to my sister Dannii and her partner Kris on the happy news!!!! I am so excited to be an Aunty again!! WOW WOW WOW!! xxx”
Dannii’s baby is not due until July, however rumours of her condition were swirling around the media before she made the official announcement. Dannii has also admitted that she’s started having those strange cravings that accompany pregnancy.
“I am craving sweets, which I have never done before,” she said as she walked the red carpet at last week’s National Television Awards, which was her fist public appearance since her pregnancy was confirmed.
“I am very, very excited. I mean, this is going to be an incredible year,” Dannii enthused.

Spaghetti bolognese is pretty easy to make. However you make it, either from scratch by boiling down your own tomatoes or using an off the shelf pasta sauce, here are four ingredients to graduate your humble spaghetti bolognese from great to special:
- use fresh pasta. You don’t have to make it yourself, it’s readily available from the cold section of a good supermarket or deli. And don’t forget to salt the boiling water. (Salting before the water has boiled can damage your saucepan).
- add red wine - real wine, not cooking wine. Cheap wine tastes cheap, even in cooking.
- add Bamboleo sun-dried tomatoes. Bamboleo are the only brand we use in our gourmet gift baskets because they are the best I’ve ever tasted. Just the right blend of acidity, salt and tomatoe flavour. Dice into small pieces to add delightful flavour pockets in the pasta sauce.
- Add garlic
- Optional - Add diced bacon - though I prefer to dice my own from fresh rashers.
- Of course use premium, fresh ground beef mince.
Simple, quick and easy - but the finishing touches that make a big difference! Bon apetite!
